Outer space security is a new field of security and a new focus of international competition and global governance in the future. Safeguarding outer space security has become an important national security strategy that determines the country's future survival and room for development. China advocates that all countries in the world should, on the basis of equality, mutual benefits, peaceful utilisation, and inclusive development, carry out in-depth international exchanges and cooperation in the field of outer space, rationally develop and utilise space resources, protect the space environment, and promote aerospace endeavours for the benefit of mankind.

Our country is determined to coordinate the operation and management of outer space systems, with a view to improving the management and usage efficiency; to comprehensively strengthen the construction of protective forces to ensure the stable and orderly operation of outer space systems; to forge international cooperation in outer space security; and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in outer space crisis management and holistic management.

Hong Kong has been actively participating in and contributing to the country's outer space industry. Local universities have participated in outer space scientific research missions of the country.
