First National Security Education Study Tour (Mar 2024)
The third National Security Education Study Tour, organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and supported by the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Shine Tak Foundation, departed for Beijing on 28 March 2026. The primary school group returned to Hong Kong on 1 April, while the secondary school group proceeded to Nanjing on the same day and completed their tour before returning to Hong Kong on 3 April. Participating teachers and students were mainly from top-performing schools in the Territory-wide Inter-School National Security Knowledge Challenge (2025/26), as well as students and their coaching teachers who took part in the performance event of the National Security Education Day held on 15 April. A total of 187 teachers and students from 19 secondary schools and 11 primary schools participated in the tour.
Mr Nong Rong, the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, warmly received the study tour. Building on the theme of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in 2025, the study tour took the teachers and students to the patriotic landmarks and historical sites of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and they also engaged in in-depth exchanges and mutual learning with local primary and secondary students. Through the visits, teachers and students gained a profound understanding of the hardships endured by our predecessors during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the great victory achieved. They also strengthened their sense of belonging and affection for the country, deepened their appreciation of the importance of various fields of national security, and enhanced their awareness and sense of responsibility for safeguarding national security of their own accord.
