Enactment of the Hong Kong National Security Law

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is an inalienable part of the People's Republic of China and a local administrative region which enjoys a high degree of autonomy and comes directly under the Central People's Government. Safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interest is the constitutional duty of the Hong Kong SAR and the duty of every Hong Kong citizen. In 2019, Hong Kong SAR was ravaged by "black clad violence" and the threats to national security reached a tipping point. The Central Authorities resolutely enacted, at the state level, the Hong Kong National Security Law, which has effectively ended violence and chaos, and plugged the loophole in the lack of legislation that had existed for years.
